We bid farewell to Shirley Dixon Elks of Chocowinity, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 28, 2024 at the age of 88. Shirley Dixon touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Hyman Dixon and Hattie Melissa Hill Dixon; her husband Dalton Elks; her son James Phillip Elks (Gerald Dalton Elks); her daughter-in-law Lori Elks; her siblings, Rev. James Richard Dixon, Nell Mills Roebuck and Gladys Winstead; and her grandchildren, Kati Elizabeth Harris and Matthew Goldberg.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sharon Housley (Doug) of Chocowinity and Donna Pittman (Allen) of Washington; her sisters, Elizabeth "Lib" Respess of Pantego and Dorcas Swain of Hampton; her grandchildren, Wayne Harris (Callie) of Greenville, Tania Harris of Chocowinity, Emily Toler of Atlanta, GA, Jacob Pittman and Michael Goldberg; and her great grandchild Katie Harris.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Paul Funeral Home - Washington (900 John Small Ave, Washington, NC 27889). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
