He was predeceased by: his parents, John Caleb Goodman and Lottie Sloop Goodman; his wife Peggy Deal Goodman; his siblings, Elmer, Carl, Dorothy, Margaret and Gladys; and his grandson Matthew Goodman.

He is survived by: his children, Alan Goodman (Darlene), Lynn Goodman (Jodi) and Amie Goodman; his sisters, Mildred Overcash and Ola Mae Harrison; his grandchildren, Brittany, Jeffrey (Marisa), Katelyn, Erica, Nicholas (Jennifer), Caleb (Preston), Madison (Bryan) and Tabby; and his great grandchildren, Oliver, Makayla, Maximus, Jayden, Paisleigh, Laiklyn, Calliope, Hunter, Nicolas, Jasmine, Josh and Myah.
