He was predeceased by: his mother Sally Lee Thomas. He is survived by: his father John Black, Jr. of Kannapolis; his wife Sabrena D. Thomas; his children, Tiffany Thomas (Angel) of Richmond, VA, Yolanda T. Robinson (Michael) of Greensboro, NC, Dana Thomas of Kannapolis and Ted Thomas, II of Charlotte; and his siblings, Julethia Carthens of Washington, DC, Catherine Black Gamble of Charlotte, Robert Lee Thomas of Kannapolis and John Black, III of Kannapolis. He is also survived by nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
