She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Allen McGuire and Ruby Faye Elder McGuire; and her brother Steve McGuire. She is survived by: her children, Bonita Castor (John Reid Jr.), Lisa Lunsford, Joseph Allen Johnson (Freda) and Jason Gainey (Shirley); and her siblings, Frances Bostian (Clyde), Sharon Bradshaw, Gary McGuire (Joyce) and Tommy McGuire (Terri).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, 220 Grace Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.

Ruby was not personally known to me as I was adopted out of the family as a child, but her father Claude and my grandmother Anna were siblings. I would love to reconnect with my McGuire family one day. I have an adorable old photo of Ruby's siblings, Francis and Steve, as children and a family picture with their parents, Claude and Ruby.
