He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murray Barnhardt and Velma Johnson Barnhardt. He is survived by: his wife Shanna McCarter Barnhardt; his sons, Chad Barnhardt (Brandi) and Larry Barnhardt; and his grandsons, Matthew Barnhardt and Owen Hartman.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, 750 Mt. Moriah Church, Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
