He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Basinger and Ruby Troutman Basinger; and his siblings, L. C. Basinger, Evelyn B. Roberts, Kathleen B. Standley, Norman Basinger, Bernice B. Carter, Larry Basinger and Gaynelle B. Moose.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Sechler Bassinger; and his children, Amy Bassinger and Joshua Bassinger (Allen Lane). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Mount Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 1415 S Main St, China Grove, NC 28023.
