He was predeceased by: his parents, John George Fox and Myrtle Etta Query Fox; and his wife Catherine Nixon Fox. He is survived by: his daughters, Candice Safrit (Jeff) of China Grove and Shannon Cheeseman (Chad) of Rockwell; his sisters, Joy Absher of Rockwell and Janice Wilkinson (Lester) of Mooresville; his siblings-in-law, Frances Sigmon (Danny) of Denver, NC and Jim Nixon (Linda) of Denver; and his grandchildren, Sarah Safrit, Jacob Cheeseman and Logan Cheeseman.
