He was predeceased by: his parents, Cicero Simmons and Annie Bell Dennis Simmons; his wife Joyce Lee Sipes Simmons; and his sisters, Louise "Sis" Sturm and Margaret Simpson.
He is survived by: his sons, Eric Simmons (H. R. Simmons), Michael Simmons (Judy) and Hubert "Reed" Simmons, Jr. (Renee). He is also survived by his six grandchildren and his nine great grandchildren.
