She was predeceased by : her parents, Doy Edwards and Claudia Smith Edwards; her husband Ernest Lewis Chester; and her siblings, Joe Edwards, Naomi Scarborough and Alice Martin.

She is survived by : her sons, Steven Chester (Kathy) and Rickie Chester (Phoebe); and her siblings, Shirley Barry (Bill), Irene Ashley, Donnie Edwards (Kim), Bill Edwards and Jerry Edwards (Rachel). She is also survived by five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
