He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Upright, Sr. and Betty Jean Brown Upright; and his brother John Franklin Upright, Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Carol Smith (Johnny) of Concord, Leann Bulla (Chris) of Salisbury, Dale Edward Upright and Matthew Scott Upright Mooresville (Jennifer); his sister Wanda Efrid of Kings Mountain; and his grandchildren, Zachery Smith and Hailey Smith.
