He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Earl McCombs and Katherine Smith McCombs; his son Danny Ray McCombs; his sisters, Betty Mauldin and Jackie Reynolds; and his son-in-law Ronald Marlin.
He is survived by: his children, Frances Moffitt (Robert) of Kannapolis, Diane Marlin of China Grove, Marie Hagler (Tommy) of Concord and David McCombs (Sandy) of China Grove; and his brother Earl McCombs of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
