It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Leonhardt (Cherryville, North Carolina), born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on July 15, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Junius Lester Matthews and Ida Gemammie Rhoney Matthews; her husband Warren Harding Leonhardt; her son Wayne Harding Leonhardt; and her siblings, Carl Matthews, James Matthews, Harold Matthews, Glenn Matthews, Eunice Fisher and Luenet Deal.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Leonhardt (Gail) of Vale, Janice Benfield of Conover, Martha Bolden (Jerry) of Hickory and Joyce Speagle (Randy) of Vale; and her grandchildren, Nicole Bowman, Erika Rowland, Gayren Handy, Gwendolyn Hartsoe, Wendell Speagle, Travis Speagle, Brian Carroll, Tony Bolden and Kelly Bolden. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
