He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Cartee and Nellie Elmore Cartee; and his grandson Briar Pilkington. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Cartee; his son Scottie Cartee (Nick); his stepdaughter Laura Price (Chad); his grandchildren, Mason Pilkington, Layla Price, Jasmine Price, Makensy Price, Logan Ronzo and Christian Ronzo; his siblings, John Johnson (Cathy) and Shirley Dickson (Mark); his parents-in-law, Rev. Keith Chronister and Linda Chronister; and his sister-in-law Miranda Pennington (Jerry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Youth Program at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Lincolnton, NC.
