He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Gunnell and Ester Marshall Gunnell; and his sister Pauline Ayers. He is survived by: his wife Juanita O'Dell Gunnell; his children, Maria Pruitt (Tim) and Steven Gunnell (Bonnie) of Cherryville; his grandchildren, Landry, Grayce, Emma Pruitt, Brooks and Baylor Gunnell; his brothers, Vernon Gunnell of Clemmons and Elmer Gunnell of Mt. Airy; and his siblings-in-law, Ann Harmon of Cherryville and Richard Lee O'Dell (Cheryl) of Matthews. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
