He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Ivo Newton and Ruth Atchley Newton; his wife Vickey Davis Newton; and his siblings, Joann Padgett, Jane Robinson and Jerry "The Legend" Newton.
He is survived by: his children, Lee Newton (Jessica) and Amanda Parton (Blayne) of Bryson City; his sister Janet Fulton of Waco; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Waya, Bryce, Brooklyn and Molly.
