He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Benson, Sr. and Minnie Alberta Barbour Benson; and his sisters, Ailene Benson Montgomery, Pauline Benson Garland, Hazel Benson and McKinney Howell.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie S. Benson; his children, Robert Benson (Rita), Alvin Benson (Tela) of Cherryville, N. C., Margie Littlejohn (Byron) and Sybil Littlejohn (Edward) of Cherryville, N. C.; his brother Willie Benson of Cherryville, N. C.; his grandchildren, Eric, Brad (Amber), Chad, Christopher Benson, Anquavius Littlejohn, Ashley Green (Sheridan), Alexis, Jaquayla Littlejohn and India Benson; his great grandchildren, Alasia, Tatianna, Bella Benson, Kendrick Cunningham and Jackson Carter Green; and his niece Raqwanda Williams. He is also survived by four children; two sons and two daughters.
