He is survived by: his mother Mary Paxton Shaffer; his children, Joel Shaffer (Nicole) of Boiling Springs and Jamie Hastings (Dustin) of Lincolnton; and his brothers, Robbie Shaffer (Jina) of Fallston, Mike Shaffer (Sandy) of Fallston, Ronald Shaffer (Gina Willis) of Belwood and Richie Shaffer (Becky) of Maiden. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
