He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Steene and Clarabelle Howard Steene; and his sisters, Barbara and Marilyn. He is survived by: his wife Gerita Martin Steene; his children, Robert Steene of Texas, Mike Steene of Oregon, Robin Costner (Frankie), Nicole Blaylock (Mike) and Martin Messer (Lisa); his brother Karl Steene (Bonnie); his grandchildren, Tyler Blaylock and Hunter Costner; and his friends, Art and Shirley Zimmer of New York. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian of Cherryville church fund.
