He was predeceased by: his sisters, Madge Elizabeth Gray Johnson and Rosa Mae Johnson Jones; his in-laws, Thomas Edward Mitchell and Launa Morgan Mitchell; and his siblings-in-law, Tommie Fredricka Ingram, Johnsie Mitchell Williams and Thomas Anthony "Adolph" Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine "Shirley" Mitchell Johnson; his children, Teresa Annette Johnson and Otto Benjamin Johnson II; his grandchildren, Breauna Denise Johnson, Gilbert Chinyelu Williams II, Gabon Ttosam Williams and Grant Dean Williams; his brother Johnny H. Johnson (Easter) of Charlotte; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Mitchell Simms. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and a host of lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Memorial Presbyterian Church (2600 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at the Salisbury National Cemetery (5318 Salem Church Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216).
