She is survived by: her parent Jane Stanback Heywood; her children, Susan Heywood Armistead of Charlotte and John Lucas Armistead, III; her wife Julie Hancock Armistead of Charlotte; her grandchildren, John Lucas Armistead, IV (Luke), Margaret McCory Armistead (Meg) and Catherine Heywood Armistead; and her nieces, Suzanne Heywood Miller (Chuck) and Mary Martin Witt (Dale).
