“Lonnie Elder Miller was one of this country’s greatest Ministers of Music moving many soles to Christ. She was the daughter of Mrs. Ollie Mae Leak Elder and Lonnie Elder. Her entire family has been a shadow in my Christian education life and that of many others. Lonnie answered God’s call to Music when I was just a girl in Gethsemane Baptist Church. She was a piano teacher who helped others. She griddled herself as a servant/ Lord. To God, We Give God all the Glory and Praise for her life.”

“Long before churches had buses, the Elder and Leake family would haul children around, feeding them, and allowing them to participate in various church activities. Lonnie was also a piano teacher, training other musicians, and instilling their Christian music ministries. The Leake family were some of this country’s most talented singers and Lonnie was an extremely talented musician. I always considered her a big girl compared to me (age 77), who always carried herself like a “Lady.””
