We are sad to announce that on January 14, 2025, at the age of 87, Lizzie Mae Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Sanders and Addie Durham Sanders; her children, Roosevelt McClure Jr., James W. Smith Sr., Charles E. Smith Sr., Wandie Jane McClure and Babie McClure; and her close friends, Roosevelt McClure Sr. and John T. Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Robert McClure Sr. of York, SC, Danny Sanders of Charlotte, NC and Johnnie Mae Smith of Hampton, VA; her daughter-in-law Martha Mae Smith; and her siblings-in-law, William Smith (Lula), Clyde Smith (Chasie), Rev. Michael Smith (Debra), Rosa White, Helen McKnight, Annie Miller (Verlie) and Shirley Sanders of York, SC. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the O'Zion AME Zion Church (13921 Hamilton Rd, Charlotte, NC 28278). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
