He was predeceased by: his parent Eleanor Freeman; and his sisters, Regina Gabriel and Julie Gabriel. He is survived by: his children, Erica Thompson, Jeffrey Bunton, VaToine Gilmore and Alan Gabriel; his grandchildren, Destine Thompson, Austin Thompson, Jeffrey Terrano, Briohnny Bunton, Jayson Bunton, Akarrie Bunton, Javonne Bunton, Jaleena Bunton, Layla Gilmore and Landon Gilmore; and his nephews, Jeremy Gabriel and Christopher Gabriel. He is also survived by nieces, cousins, and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the A. E. Grier & Sons (2310 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
