James Thomas Catoe Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Thomas Catoe of Charlotte, North Carolina, born in Kershaw, South Carolina, who passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mothers, Martha Drakeford Catoe and Laura Catoe; and his siblings, Nannie Catoe Thompson, Sandra Catoe Moore, Louise Catoe Brown, Sammie Catoe, Otis Drakeford Jr. and Benjamin Catoe.

He is survived by: his wife Minerva Catoe; his daughters, Shae Springs (Voderick) of Gastonia, NC and Yolanda Thomasson (Todd) of Gastonia, NC; his grandchildren, Shayla, Delainah Springs, Darion and Kaylin Thomasson; his great grandchild Kasani Jackson; his stepdaughter Emily Gonzalez; his niece Wanda Knox (Chad); his siblings, Martha Jones of Heath Springs, SC, Geraldine Catoe of Heath Springs, SC, Betty Howard (Jeffrey) of Kershaw, SC, Lizzie Richardson of Charlotte, NC and Dock Catoe Jr. of Heath Springs, SC; and his siblings-in-law, Lisa of Lake Wylie, SC, Maxine of Lake Wylie, SC, Gracie of Lake Wylie, SC, Carolyn Carothers of Lake Wylie, SC, Earlene of Gastonia, NC, Mary Carothers of Gastonia, NC, Paul Carothers (Vivian) of Lake Wylie, SC, James C. Carothers of Charlotte, NC and Pete Brown of Heath Springs, SC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Zion AME Zion Church (3225 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
