It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert Gray Sr. (Charlotte, North Carolina), born in Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on June 11, 2019, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Ray Gray Sr. and Eliza Wooten Gray; his son Morris McCoy; and his siblings, Willie Gray Sr., James Gray Sr., Eleanor Jones and Frances Isler.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte McCoy Gray; his children, Herbert H. Gray Jr of Raleigh, Chester E. Gray, Sr. (Robin) of Virginia, Hilton C. Gray (Tasha) of Charlotte, Matthew McCoy of Arizona, Mark McCoy of Goldsboro, Clara Whitfield (John) of Goldsboro and Marla McCoy of Georgia; his daughter-in-law LaShonida McCoy; his siblings, Oscar Gray Sr. (Mary) of Maryland and Irene Kinsey of LaGrange; and his sister-in-law Louise Gray of Goldsboro. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
