He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Allen Turner and Margie Strawn Turner; and his brothers, Douglas Lynn Turner and Steven Earl Turner. He is survived by: his wife Andrea Turner; his children, Jon Turner (Paige) and Julie Brown (Mark Sr.); his brother David Turner; his grandchildren, Abbie Simon (Andrew), Rebeka Cawley (Justin), Natalie Sailers (Adam), Mark Brown, Jr. (Brittany) and Zack Brown; and his great grandchildren, Oliver Cawley, Jackson Simon, Wesley Elliott Simon, Taylor, Teagan Brown, Dylan and Savannah Sailors.

In lieu of flowers for Gerald, the family requests donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina located on 500 Spratt Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28206.
