He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Agnes Nelson and Clarence Joseph Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine C. Nelson; his children, Teri Alexander (Jim), Gerry Wall (Rich, Sr.), George Nelson, Jr. (Mandy) and Garrett Nelson (Erin); his grandchildren, Paul Halaburd (Suzanne), Jennifer Lumseyfai (Jonathan), Bryan Nelson (Chelsea), Katie Wall, Rich Wall, Jr. (Jessica), Carly Almeyda (Dimitrii) and Emma Nelson (Nick Karp); and his great grandchildren, Savvy Nelson, Peter, Robbie Halaburda, Richard "Tre" Wall, III, Carmella Rose Lumseyfai and Wesley Almeyda.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY.
