He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Elwood and Thelma Elwood; and his grandson Scott Alexander Fannon. He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Adina DiMarzio (Donnie Pitchford), Carol Dysart and Michael DiMarzio; his grandsons, Danny Fannon and Blake Pitchford; and his brothers, Gene and Harold Elwood.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home (4715 Margaret Wallace Rd, Matthews, NC 28105). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
