He was predeceased by: his grandfather Don Philipp; his stepfather Joshua; and his cousin Avery. He is survived by: his parents, Cynthia Smith of Myrtle Beach and Thomas Pennington; his siblings, Hannah Grace, Scottie, Dustin, Kristin and Nick Pennington; his grandparents, Sylvia Philipp, Mary Pennington, Jack and Mardelle Smith; his significant other Hollin Widmann; his aunt Melinda Kloppenburg of Indian Trail; his grandchild Kirsten Stacks (Danny) of Weddington; his great grandchildren, Faith, Hazel and Aiden; his son Hunter Watson of Weddington; his grandchild Atticus Rhoades; his son McKenzie Lowder Lewis (Eddie) of Indian Trail; his grandchild Tinslee; his son Mason Lowder (Brianna) of Indian Trail; his great-aunt Cynthia Dotson; his stepmother Cindy Sue Pennington; and also, Kyle Kloppenburg, Jacqueline "Juicy" Belangia, Eric Buetz and Jennifer Pawlik. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
