He was predeceased by: his parents, Yvonne Newman and Nathan Newman. He is survived by: his former wife Margot Newman; his close friend Jim O'Brien; his friends, Charlotte, Savannah and Coco; his wife Penny; his daughters, Barbara and Stephanie; and his sister Nancy Fein.
David had a generous and philanthropic spirit, donating over the years to such causes as the education of young Chinese children in rural provinces; HIV/AIDS research: American Wheelchair Mission, and the ASPCA.
