He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Charles R. Stephens, Jr. (Lisa), Taunya Stephens and Wanda Smith; his siblings, Patsy White (Virgil), David Stephens (Donna) and John Stephens; and his grandchildren, Brittnee Jeter, MaryAnna Jeter, Victoria Godfrey, Randi Abernathy and Jenn Smith. He was also cherished by twelve great-grandchildren.
