William E. Leuchtenburg Obituary
We are sad to announce that on January 28, 2025, at the age of 102, William E. Leuchtenburg of Chapel Hill, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Irish. He is survived by: his former spouse Jean Anne Williams; his sons, Thomas, Christopher and Joshua Leuchtenburg; his grandchildren, Cynthia, Brian, Michael, Alex, Jessica and Julia; his stepgrandsons, Alexander and Benjamin; his great grandchildren, William, Teddy and Lachlan; and also, Christopher Williams, Lucy, Laurie, Tamara Leuchtenburg and Penny Rodrick-Williams.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the National Humanities Center (7 TW Alexander Dr, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709).
Memorial contributions may be offered on behalf of William Leuchtenburg to the University of North Carolina Press; to TABLE, a local non-profit focused exclusively on childhood hunger in Orange County; and to InterAct in Wake County, a provider of services supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
