He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Atwater and Isma Andrews Atwater; his wife Anne Eubanks Atwater; and his siblings, William, Alfred, Roy and Eugenia Humpheries.
He is survived by: his children, Alana Finney (Gene) of Kannapolis, James Atwater (Jeanett) of Salter Path, Beth Junquera (Pete) of Benson, NY and Maria Hendrix (Dwayne) of Clemmons.
