He is survived by: his wife Sandy Lanier Wheeler; his mother Norma Jean Wheeler; his siblings, Matthew Wheeler (Diane), Deann Beeman (Ralph), Mary Edgely (Tom), Sherry Kinnebrew (John) and Donna Perkoski; his sisters-in-law, Carol Goehring (Chris) and Sue Parsons (Cam); and his nieces and nephews, Gwen Castellanos (Gerardo), Sophie Perkoski, Sheena Ranch, Malanie Sabo, Nicole Nungara, Alexia Goehring (Sabrina), Shaelee Parsons, Aaron Edgley (Lindsay), Jeff Edgley (Sarah) of Wency Bensing, CJ, Scott Parsons and Ryan Parsons.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Home (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Chapel (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705). A burial was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Woodlawn Memorial Park (2107 Liberty St, Durham, NC 27703).
