He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Carter and Sallie Synder Carter; his wife Susie Carter; his son James T. Carter, Jr.; and his siblings, Doug Carter and Yvonne Meadow.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Carter and Sue Powell (Bobby); and his siblings, John Paul Carter, Doris Jane Patterson (Jay), Hilda Norris, Faye Doss (Paul), Kay Lemons (Billy), Patricia Brady (Darryl) and June Puckett (Tim). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church (1707 White Cross Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27516). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
