With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betsy Bare of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who passed away on September 6, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her brother Marshall Dean Ross; and her pets, Louis, Koko, Yum-Yum, Simon, Audrey and Max.
She is survived by: her husband John Bare; her daughter Elizabeth Warren-Mikes (Brian Mikes) of Chicago; her son-in-law Brian Mikes; her granddaughter Anna Adair; her aunt Lib; her niece Adelle Patten; her former husband Dan Warren III of Snow Hill; her granddaughter Betsy; her pets, Winston and Isadora; her granddaughter Caroline Elizabeth; her stepmother Doris Beasley Ross of Black Mountain; her brother Thomas Lee Ross III (Patricia Ross) of Blowing Rock; her nieces and nephews, Caroline and Hadley; her brother Leslie Calvin Ross (Staci) of Fuquay Varina; her stepsiblings, Rebecca Patten (Bill Patten) of Concord and Walter Hannah (Susan Hannah) of Concord; her half-siblings, David Ross (Katie Ross) of Black Mountain and Dr. Laura Ross Loehr (Steven Loehr) of Durham; her son Carson; her cousins, Caroline Greer of Spartanburg, SC and George Patterson III of Concord; her parents-in-law, Wayne and Anita Bare of Garner; her children, Leah of Raleigh, Sarah and Ben; and also, William, Adelle, Hannah Ross, Laura and Millicent.
In her most recent illness, what doctors described as a "mild" case of COVID-19, turned deadly in a 24-period as the coronavirus attacked her lungs. Seeking a remedy, Betsy participated in a national experiment testing convalescent plasma as a treatment for COVID-19.
