She was predeceased by: her parents, Franklin Terah Shepherd and Sarah Elizabeth Kissam Shepherd; her husband Earl D. Barnes, Sr.; and her siblings, Russell Shepherd, Ethel Carter, Lloyd Shepherd, Josephine Rabon, Lucinda Hayes, Franklin Shepherd, Clyde Todd and Walter Merle "Billy" Shepherd.
She is survived by: her children, Earl D. Barnes, Jr. (Kelli) of Chadbourn, Franklin Merle Barnes (Margaret) of Carthage, Eddie Lloyd Barnes (Susie) of Sanford, William Carroll "Billy" Barnes of Sanford and Teresa Lynn Barnes of Wilmington. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren.
