Jesse Spivey Sr. Obituary
Jesse Julius Spivey, Sr. age 90 of Chadbourn passed on Thursday, December 07, 2017 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center in Whiteville. Final rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Chip Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home.
He was the husband of the late Elsie Rae Barnes Spivey and the son of the late Alma Bass Spivey and Leo Spivey. Mr. Spivey was preceded in death by a son, Larry Martin Long and two siblings, Hilda Merle Lanier and Eula Mae Spivey Moore. He was a veteran of WW II serving his country honorable in the United States Navy. Survivors include six children, Julie Somers of Tampa, FL, Karen Long Jernigan of Hallsboro, Robin Wand of Charlotte, Jesse J. Spivey, Jr. of Summerville, SC, Denise Miller of Summerville, SC and Tara Wilkins of Shreveport, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
