She was predeceased by: her father Thomas Franklin Simms; her husband Crowell Dyson, Jr.; and her siblings, James Simms, Mollie Herring, Bill Simms, Bernice Carter, Mary McKenzie, Alice Faye Duncan and Junior Simms.
She is survived by: her sons, Crowell Thomas "Tommy" Dyson (Barbara) of Chadbourn, Jimmy C. Dyson of Chadbourn and Paul Curtis Dyson (Peggy) of Chadbourn; her grandchildren, Denise Stephens, Paula Ivey, Tamatha O'Connor, Heather Dyson and Pamela Little; her great grandchildren, Amber Stephens, Ashlynn Dickerson, Gabby Harrison, Bryson Ivey, Sadie Harrison and Myles Little; and her niece Linda Brown.
