She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Jefferson Strickland and Purcell Chavis Strickland; and her siblings, Thomas Willie Strickland, Barbara Hammonds, Ernest Strickland and David Earl Strickland.

She is survived by: her husband Leslie Hammonds, Jr.; her daughter Danielle Monique Carter of Charlotte; her brother James Edward Strickland of Lake Waccamaw; her grandchildren, Jordan Anthony Evans, Jadon Moore and Erron Carter; and her great grandchild Daylin Evans.
