He is survived by: his wife Kitty Jo Buffkin Mercer; his daughters, Jo-Ellen Mercer Long of Whiteville and Mendi Kit Mercer of Tabor City; his sister Priscilla M. Soles of Longs, SC; and his granddaughters, Gretchen Long and Gabrielle Long.
