He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe McPherson and Madge Hinson McPherson; his wife Mary Frances McPherson; and his siblings, Veta McPherson, Sue M. Skipper and John Wayne McPherson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kitty Martin of Chadbourn and Crystal Wilkes (Jeffery) of Lumberton; and his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Harrelson, Dylan Chase Wilkes and Anthony Wayland Wilkes.
