He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Berry Thompson and Lannie Mae Nobles Thompson; and his siblings, Berry Thompson, Alice T. Green, Mary T. Meares, Doris T. Herring, Frostie T. Lupton, Dorcas T. Hammond and Amelita T. Hawkins.
He is survived by: his wife Grey Edwards Thompson; his daughter Sharon T. Caines (Elton) of Cerro Gordo; his stepdaughter Pam M. Ashley (John) of Whiteville; and his grandchildren, Natalie McPherson (Sam), Amanda Hall, Greyanna Ashley and Blake Ashley. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
