She was predeceased by: her father Earl Read. She is survived by: her husband John Meares; her sons, Jimmy Powell of Tabor City, NC, Elec Powell of Fair Banks and Kevin Hood (Terri) of Leonardtown; and her sisters, Dot Glascock (Danny) of Fair Bluff, NC, Helen Hammond (Dane) of Cerro Gordo, NC and Linda Bookhout (Mike) of West Union, SC.. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
