He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Smith and Lessie Smith; and his wife Janice Rose Smith. He is survived by: his children, Helen Salter (Joseph) of Ernul, NC and Gregory K. Smith (Jeannie) of Newport; his brother Eldon Smith Jr. of Beaufort; and his grandchildren, Gregory Tilmon (Brooke) of Newport and Stephanie Fitzgerald (Mark) of New Bern.
