He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Horner and Thelma Long Horner; his former wife Barbara Cooper Horner; his children, James C. "Jimmy" Horner, Jr. (Kristen) and Becky Horner Sneed (Chuck); and his siblings, Bill Horner and Elaine Horner Conia.
He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Cynthia Kernodle Drumwright (late Bob), Lori Kernodle Fields (Darron) and Jennifer Kernodle Miller (Bobby); his grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Adam, Carson, Tiffany, Michelle, Chandler, Cassidy, Tucker and Avery; his great grandchildren, Hudson, Addison, Jamie, Rylee Rae, Rhett Wayne, Aubrie, Luke, Lila and Lucy; his stepchildren, Cynthia Glasgow Davis (Jeff) and Troy Glasgow (Cedar); and his sister Carol Horner Hyder.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 15th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Eno Presbyterian Church (5409 Efland - Cedar Grove Rd, Cedar Grove, NC 27231).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Authoricare Hospice of Alamance County at 918 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215; or the Cedar Grove Ruritan Club, where James served as President and was honored as Ruritan of the Year twice, at 6116 Efland-Cedar Grove Rd, Cedar Grove, NC 27231.
