She was predeceased by: her parent Lawrence Odell LaFone; her husband Clyde P. Whitener; her siblings, Hazel Hallman, Sadie Sherrill, Ezra LaFone, Foy LaFone, Glenn LaFone, Fred LaFone and Buford LaFone; her son-in-law Benjy Wheeler; and her granddaughter Carrie Wheeler.
She is survived by: her parent Carrie Killian LaFone; her children, Pat Walsh of Hickory, Phil Whitener (Mary) of Melbourne, FL and Pam Wheeler of Hickory; her grandchildren, Jason Walsh (Catherine) of Raleigh, Benjamin Wheeler of Hickory, Joshua Whitener of Cape Canaveral, FL and Caroline Thompson of St. Johns; and her great grandchild Payton Thompson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
