He is survived by: his wife Debra Phillips Townley; his children, Skye Townley (Amy) of Conover, Scott Johnson of Mooresville, Kirk Johnson (Anita) of Clover, SC, Paul Johnson of Catawba, Kellie Audit (Andrew) of Asheboro, Dee Berg (Jeremy) of Michigan and Gillian Roe (Kristopher) of Maryland; and his sister Lisa Smith (Kevin) of Polkton Twenty.
