He is survived by: his wife Linda Martin Matthews; his daughters, Tara Ervin (Brandon) of Catawba and Deidra Schutz (John) of Black Mountain; his grandsons, Nathan Ervin, Nick Ervin, Lincoln Hunt and Landon Hunt; and his siblings, Vickie Brown (Jim) of Newton and Kelly Matthews (Lynn) of Catawba.
