He was predeceased by: his son Bobby Louis Whitworth; and his siblings, Shirley Colquiet, Mazzie Rankin, Bill Michaels, Edward Rankin and Claude Rankin.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Whitworth of Conover, NC, Patrick Rankin, Vanessa Meeks of Hickory, NC and Rose Dawkins Kings (James); his aunt Jennie Rankin of Forest City, NC; his sister-in-law Alberta Rankin of Shelby; and his niece Mary Huskey (Ricky Dean) of Shelby. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
